Felix, Thanks for that info. I can see that causing server requests to be slow, even very slow, but I don't see how that would cause server requests to completely fail (as if the server had crashed). But maybe there's something I don't know or understand. Thanks. |

With the unusually high amount of traffic, its more overloading the connection to the server, not the server functions itself. Think akin to a DDOS attack, instead, we are flooding it with data it actually wants. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denial-of-service_attack |

I think the project servers have been down for several days. No, they haven't. OK, fine. Then can you explain why my event log has looked like this for almost a week? 7/11/2022 1:54:04 PM | Universe@Home | Temporarily failed upload of universe_bh2_190723_405_2186597814_20000_1-999999_600100_1_r289549338_0: transient HTTP error 7/11/2022 1:54:04 PM | Universe@Home | Backing off 04:52:08 on upload of universe_bh2_190723_405_2186597814_20000_1-999999_600100_1_r289549338_0 7/11/2022 1:54:04 PM | Universe@Home | Temporarily failed upload of universe_bh2_190723_405_2186597814_20000_1-999999_600100_1_r289549338_2: transient HTTP error 7/11/2022 1:54:04 PM | Universe@Home | Backing off 00:47:48 on upload of universe_bh2_190723_405_2186597814_20000_1-999999_600100_1_r289549338_2 7/11/2022 1:54:06 PM | | Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down. |

OK, fine. Then can you explain why my event log has looked like this for almost a week? Some sort of networking issue with either you or your ISP. Re-boot your computer & re-boot you modem/router. If there are still issues, check to see if your internet security software has updated recently, or if you have changed any firewall settings- your system is still able to contact the Universe@home Scheduler even if it is unable to contact the & maintain a connection with the upload server. I think the project servers have been down for several days. No, they haven't. You’re running an outdated version of BOINC with an expired security certificate. This prevents communication with a lot of projects. Download the new version of BOINC. |

OK. I rebooted the modem, restarted the computer, removed Universe@Home and added the project. Eventually, all 14 of the tasks that had been stuck in Transfers for a week, plus two that had been downloading for a week, either disappeared or got sent. I now have two U@H tasks running. Now why did't I think of that? Because it took a genius like you to tell me what I needed to do. S. Gaber |

Three of the above tasks were marked "abandoned." with eleven valid and two completed, validation pending. Amazing what can happen if you either know what you're doing or find somebody else who does. ;<)) S. Gaber |
You’re running an outdated version of BOINC with an expired security certificate. This prevents communication with a lot of projects. Download the new version of BOINC.
In addition to rebooting the modem, restarting the computer, removing and adding Universe, I also updated BOINC to Version 7.16.20 (x64). All the tasks that were hanging are gone am there are now two Universe tasks running. So some part of what I did worked, not sure which. S. Gaber |

Any version that has the updated security certificates. Or just use the lastest BOINC client. At version 7.20.0 BOINC finally got rid of its own security certificates and now relies on the base OS to handle that function. A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |
